Looks pretty much the same. Slight preference for the 116500 . but really the same for all intents and purposes. One of the real draws of the 116500 was how the watch fit and the comfort level of it. It will be interesting to see if that remains for the new version. __________________. 116500 Daytona White Dial. So my question for the experts is: Is it the case where Rolex elected to keep the two-tone Daytona models using luminova and only use chromalight in the stainless models? And barring that possibility, what year did Rolex switch over to chromalight for the Daytona?
First you have to figure out whether you want blue (Chromalight) lume or green (Superluminova) lume. Chromalight lume dates back to watches produced after 2008/9, whereas Superluminova is the old lume. Both models linked above have Chromalight lume. I have a GMT 2 with the green lume, and a DJ41 with the Chromalight, the Chromalight "glows" much longer than the green lume in my experience; That being said, the Chromalight is superior in my opinion. The Chromalight lume technology sets a new standard for luminosity in the dark.
